Hello Monday!

“Sing to the LORD a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! “ Isaiah 42:10

How many times do we dread a Monday morning? Perhaps it starts the new work week for many. Maybe the weekend seemed all too short and we’d like more. This is certainly normal. But, let’s look at this a different way. Sunday actually begins a new week. When we start our week in worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we are refreshed, ready for a new week. We received a message that is applicable to our lives and we can anticipate the ability to utilize this Word to grow closer in our walk with the Lord. If we start to look at Sunday as the start of the week and not the end, perhaps our thoughts will be more positive.

Do you ever sing a new song to the Lord? Not a favorite hymnal or gospel song, but from your spirit to God’s heart- a song of praise for a new day, for the very breath you are given. With positive thoughts and hearts of praise, we desire to sing a new song unto the Lord!

Happy Monday!

Love…

Perfect, true love comes from our Creator. It is not because we have a good heart or a bad one. It has nothing to do with who our parents are or if we are rich, poor, white, black, etc. Our Father created all things and then He set us above it all and gave us authority on the earth. Angels wait for our assignments! He created us with free will to choose.

His divine love covers us because He sent His only Son to save us. We do know this pure love when we have a personal relationship with the Son. It is deep. It is true. It lasts forever. It is not contingent upon how our day is going or if others meet our expectations. True love is unconditional. It lasts.

Our Father loves us deeper than we can know. If you are a mother, you know that deep love for your child. Nothing can change it. If you are an aunt, your nieces or nephews have your unconditional love. If you are a wife, you vowed to give that true love to him, no matter what. It is not about how you feel. It is what you choose.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” John 4: 18-19

“We love, because HE first loved us.” Remember that first love, maybe a school crush or maybe your first date or even the spouse you have vowed to love all of your days. We know what that love feels like. But, we cannot put our trust in feelings. They are fleeting. Agape love is the love we need, we should pursue above all other, the love that lasts throughout eternity.

Who’s Time are You on?

“… but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

“We try to make it happen, but God’s promises are fulfilled in the flow of God’s perfect timing.” Perry Stone

The disciples asked Jesus many questions. He answered many things, but He also expressed that there were some things they were not supposed to know. He knew that by allowing them to know the dates and times of God’s plans could prevent them from seeking God in the meantime.

“He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.”
Acts 1:7

God answers in three ways: Yes, No, Wait. Waiting is the hardest part for us.

God is the ultimate authority over time, and by trusting in that, we come to a much greater faith.

Challenge yourself to recall a time when you felt like God didn't hear you, when you didn't think He cared about your need, and maybe he just didn't want to answer you. Was it in the midnight hour (at the last moment), when your answer came through? So many times this happens. It's about our faith in the waiting. What are you waiting on today? Know that God hears you and be faithful in the wait.

Gossip or Prayer Request?

We’ve probably all been part of a Bible study group when we let prayer needs be known. We’ve possibly all crossed a line at some point, even out of a loving, well-intended heart. That line is when we start to discuss a person’s sin- in far too much detail. It’s when we spend too much time talking about another. It can happen quite innocently. Be watchful.

We all know those who enjoy talking about others, judging them and wanting others to join them. This is slander and gossip. God hates it. Don’t do it.

”There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

Some of us have endured destruction in our lives because of someone else’s lies. If that is you right now, let us pray that God will strengthen you so that you will stand and find His strength to endure, and that the truth will be revealed. It isn’t easy, but we are called to pray for our enemies. May you have divine guidance to offer up those prayers.

Being A Woman (BAW), this women’s ministry now in its 15th year, has seen women endure hardships due to the lies and slander of others. We’ve held one another up in difficult times. Moreover, we have been blessed to come together in love and embrace one another in the name of the Lord. It must be such a sweet, sweet sight for our Father, when He sees His girls laughing and loving one another.

What Does God Expect of ME???

“. put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:22-32

Do You Honor Others?

Romans 12:10

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.´ (ESV)

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” (NIV)

“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” (NLV)

Merriam-Webster…’Honor: a good name or public esteem; a showing of usually merited respect; privilege; a person or superior standing; an award in a contest or field of competition; purity; integrity.’

We are well versed on the ‘Golden Rule.’ We learned it in kindergarten. But, do we really get it? God tells us to love others more than ourselves. Do we truly do this? Do we think of others before ourselves? Do we treat others better than we treat ourselves?

It sounds simple in theory. However, in application, are we failing? Do we honor others?

God takes it a step further when He says, “Outdo one another in showing honor.” Have you ever considered it this way…to “outdo” one another in loving, helping, and doing?

There is always someone watching us. Always. If you were the only Bible someone read, how would their faith be? At the grocery when you’re in a hurry and the shortest line takes the longest and the cashier is just rude- do you honor him/her anyway? It’s pouring rain, you just got your hair done, and you drove around the parking lot until you found that close spot- but, another car cut you off and took your space- do you honor them anyway? The daily list of annoyances can go on. How do we respond? Do we show honor to others, undeserved honor, love, and respect?

A lot of questions for one word. It’s far deeper than we might think.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to truly love others above ourselves. It’s not always easy. You know this full well. We have not and never will encounter the measure of dishonor that was shown to you. Forgive us, God, when we fall short and use a quick temper or a sharp word to others. Help us to truly walk in your love, showing it to everyone at all times. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
